Glenwood Hot Springs Pool

Out of all the hot springs pools, Glenwood has the most interesting history. It was first visited by the Ute Indians who considered them a sacred healing spot in 1860. It was then purchased by British investors who created the world’s largest hot springs pool in 1888. The attractive lodge and pool sides were made of peach-blow sand stone. They have been visited by many rich and powerful people. From 1943 to 1946, it became a U.S. Naval hospital, and in 1950, it became a private hospital but has been open to the public ever since.

In our opinion, Glenwood Hot Springs pools offers one of the safest hot springs for disabled people. There is handicapped parking, large well formed steps with handrails, and numerous life guards who are some of the most attentive lifeguards in existence.

The mineral content of hot springs tends to go up with the temperature which is said to be about 170 degrees in Glenwood before they cool it down. The somewhat unpleasant aroma of sulphur drifts in the wind.

The pools have undergone several renovations, with water differing in temperature from bone chilling cold to quite warm.

It is open long hours every day (8 a.m. until 10 p.m.) and open all year round but be sure to check for pre-scheduled maintenance closings. Pool access is pricey, but high class all the way!
