Red Rocks Amphitheatre

During the Great Depression when President Franklin Roosevelt  wanted to help uplift Americans, he formed the Civilian Conservation Corps. These men built Red Rocks Amphitheatre in the foothills of the Rockies in Morrison Colorado. This beautiful outdoor theatre, which seats 9.000 people may be the Corps’ greatest single project. If your forefathers worked in the WPA, they may have helped build this.

The theatre is nestled between Ship Rock and Creation Rock, two towering three-hundred-foot sandstone formations that help create a natural acoustic environment unlike any other, as these help carry sound further and help maintain clarity. Concerts are frequently performed there and every Easter they have a sunrise service. Rolling Stone Magazine calls Red Rocks  “America’s Best Amphitheatre.”
